Why does an instrument show as halted when SecurityTradingStatusReasonType is “Administrative” or “Regulatory”?

Both “Administrative” and “Regulatory” are valid halt codes, even if SecurityTradingStatus displays as “Trading.”

An instrument can be flagged as halted even when SecurityTradingStatus shows “Trading.”

The associated SecurityTradingStatusReasonType provides the explanation:

  • Administrative is the most common halt reason in this case.

  • Regulatory may also appear as the reason type.

Both codes confirm the instrument is halted. The reason type indicates whether the halt is administrative or regulatory in nature.
