How does Blue Ocean ATS operate? Blue Ocean ATS runs the Blue Ocean Session, an overnight U.S. equities trading session open Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM ET. Trading aligns with the NYSE Trade Reporting Facility (TRF) schedule. Only days with next-day TRF availability are eligible for trading. Trades executed between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM ET carry the trade date of the following business day and settle on T+1. For example, trades from Sunday night through early Monday morning are reported to the NYSE TRF by 8:15 AM ET Monday. The ATS does not open on Friday evenings, as the TRF is closed for Saturday reporting.
